Our wedding pictures have arrived!

FINALLY! After the six week wait, we received an email last night letting us know that our wedding pictures were finally available for proofing online! Just about peed myself. Andrea Polito of Dallas shot our big day, and we couldn't have asked for a more talented team. There were literally 1500 pictures to look through, but for now this remains my favorite captured moment.

It literally shows how excited I was RIGHT before walking down the aisle! AND it shows off my FABULOUS shoes by Badgley Mischka!!

Sigh, I may have had blisters in the morning, but damn, did I look snazzy! Can't wait to share the rest of our beautiful photography!! Ekkkk!

Birthday Baking 101

Ahoy! Last night, I spent many, many hours pretending that I could bake. Every year on the eve of Ry's birthday, I think that I will be capable of creating some enormous, elaborate pastry for him to enjoy all day. Welp, I think I finally had far more success this year than any other year on record, A) because there were no small house fires and B) it looks pretty fantastic...

WhaLA! A fish cake! No, he's not a 12 year old boy - he's a man with a wife who acts like she's 12 when coming in contact with all kitchens everywhere. Messy and dangerous. However, this year's cake puts last year's attempt to shame.

Yes, this is a sorry excuse for an aquarium cake. I tried to make several layers. I failed. Baking isn't for all of us, but isn't it the thought that counts?? Regardless - HAPPY 26TH BIRTHDAY HUSBANDFACE!!!!!

One person's trash...

So when I realized that I had nothing to do today, I decided to take the long way to Starbucks, see if I could catch a garage sale or two. Yes, I said it - garage sale. I was skeptic, too, when my old roommate would usher me into her car and drive around aimlessly looking for those red and yellow neon signs scribbled with sloppy addresses and bold arrows pointing to the goods. She always said garage and estate sales were the prime avenues for finding forgotten treasures, trinkets you could fashion as home decor, furniture that just need some love. So when she moved to the Philippines for work right after Ry and I became engaged, and she passed the trash-to-treasure torch onto me. And as I wanted to plan a vintage, Anthropologie-esque wedding reception, these yard sales became my new best friends. I recruited my mom (and sometimes Ry after some hearty persuasion) to help me find the perfect assortment of centerpieces for the 14 tables that would fill our reception hall. The three items in demand: white milk glass, tea tins, and sets of birds. Much harder than it sounds. Thus we scoured the yards and estates each weekend, hoping to excavate just enough decor (at just the right price) to create our target aesthetic.

Unique sets of birds were lightly scattered amidst the florals...

Different styles of white milk glass served as vases for the large center bunches of peonies and garden roses - might have been my favorite thing about the ENTIRE reception!

And alas, different sized tea tins held their own unique bunches of florals and managed to give a great punch of color...

Of course, all of this could NOT have been possible without the creative eye and brilliant mind of Ms. Heidi at Lilac & Co in Dallas, TX. Heidi was truly the artist who turned my gunk into gold, and we were so lucky she let us scrounge up some of our own decor - it was such a more personal experience that I recommend to any bride looking for something unique (and easy on the budget)!

Greetings from a newlywed!

Why hello there! Welcome to a blog primarily created by the 'M' in R+M - but always influenced by the 'R' nonetheless. We were joined in holy matrimony one month and four days ago - feels like yesterday - so, of course, I begin this blog with the intent to share some of our wedding details, maybe inspire some brides and grooms, maybe not. Truth be told, I could not STAND the idea of planning a wedding when we first got engaged a year ago, but now I would love nothing more than to do it all over again. So perhaps by sharing some of the elements that made our day picture perfect, I'll get my wedding fix and get over it!

Along the way, too, I hope to with some of our favorite things - yanno, those things I just can't help but chat aimlessly about. In my world, those things usually include (but are not limited to): shopping. When I am not actually shopping, I am talking about it or researching it or thinking about it - its actually quite sad. Like an addiction. Which is probably why I loved wedding planning so much - the whole process is one gigantic shopping spree after another. It's honestly ridiculous. Regardless, if you like shopping and weddings and everything in between, you just might enjoy my chat stew.

Enough text already - I'll close the always-awkward-about-me-welcome-post with some of my favorite tidbits from our wedding! Ry and I had probably the greatest team working with us throughout the entire planning process, so here are a few of those aesthetically pleasing parts that will serve as a sort of prelude to the wedding wonders to come...

Who doesn't love their initials in a lovely heap of floral goodness??

Ah, a wedding party fit for J.Crew catalog...

Mmm, a dress that fits like a glove...

And of course, true love and marital bliss!

Tune in for this sort of hoopla and more - it's guaranteed to be a good time :)
